The Independence Party is holding a Policy Convention this summer. We will be opening up our policy for our members to review. As a member, you will have the opportunity to submit policy additions, deletions or amendments to our existing party program. Here are the 3 methods in which you can submit your policy ideas to the party:
1. If you have an existing TIP constituency association in your area, you can have the policy suggestion voted through by motion at a CA Board meeting for submission. Contacts for the existing CA's are on the website or you can contact the party through the website and we will gladly forward you the contact information you require to get in touch with your local CA Board.
2. If there is no existing TIP CA Board in your area, you can submit your policy recommendations with the support of 6 other members. The policy submission must have all 7 member signatures and contact information included.
3. The Independence Party will be hosting 2 days of online plenary sessions on July 23 & 24, 2022. Each session will be 1.5 hours long. Each online room will host a different policy discussion. You can register for one or more plenary sessions. Please go to our events page to register. The minimum required registration for each session will be 5 members with a maximum of 10 members. In these sessions, you will be able to review existing policy and put forward your own. See below for the outline for the plenary sessions:
- There will be break out rooms with a facilitator for each policy discussion.
- Max 10 people per room. (registration required)
- Please review our existing PARTY PROGRAM prior to the plenary sessions and come ready to bring your ideas forward.
- Everyone will have the opportunity to bring forward their submissions.
- Everyone will have 2 minutes to speak to the policy submission and 1 minute for responses
during debate.
- Common courtesy rules apply, including no yelling, berating, interrupting. The facilitator can
remove anyone for unruly behavior at their discretion.
All policy submissions must be submitted via this form.
All policy changes and additions will be vetted by the policy director and/or policy committee prior to posting to ensure they are in line with our existing bylaws, mission statement and founding principles. The policy committee may recommend grammatical / wording changes to the member to ensure that the submission is clear and concise before posting.
