Director
Bert Noel
Bert was born and raised in St. Paul Alberta and was a conservative voter his whole life. Before retiring, he worked in the field of construction for the entirety of his career moving up into a management role for its last 15 years. Although in retirement he enjoys golf, camping and stick curling, Bert began to see that the mainstream political parties were not offering solutions to help the people and decided something had to be done.
After the failure of Stephen Harper’s Conservative government to protect the people of Canada, it became obvious to him that conservative party members including provincials were placing their obscenely large paycheques, pensions, careers and “legacies” ahead of the people they were elected to serve. When the Liberal Party seized power and began to force their extremism on Canadians, he realized there had to be a different way.
Both he, his wife Judy and his friends started to fight back and protest against the tide starting in 2017. Although he explored working with other parties, he found none that were active or organized enough to stand as an effective alternative. He then discovered the Independence Party and although it was small and just starting out, felt it was the right place and time to jump on board.
Bert feels strongly that the people he has met from the party and its board are in it for the right reasons and also believe strongly in promoting our independence as a sovereign republic. Both he and Judy look forward to getting more involved to help this party grow and reach our goal of creating the Sovereign Republic of Alberta.

Director, Constituency Associations
Bill Daugherty
Bill has lived in Alberta for practically his entire life and lives currently in Rosebud, near Drumheller. Now semi-retired, he worked previously as an electrician and successfully ran his own contracting company servicing all of east-central Alberta. Bill is a strong advocate for the fair and equitable treatment of all people. As an experienced international traveler, he was once proud to tell others that he was a Canadian, but time and circumstances have shaken his assurances in that sentiment. His political activities gave Bill a sharp awareness of the disadvantage Alberta and the western provinces are confronted with in their present relationship with Canada.
In all his dealings Bill is well known to strive to understand both sides of any position and look for solutions that serve the people’s best interests. However, in this case he believes firmly that where history and present political trends are concerned, there is simply no viable solution for the west to remain in Canada while still maintaining its integrity. He has concluded that separation is Alberta's only option to maintain its prosperity and self determination and strongly supports the goals of Alberta Independence in their pursuit!

Party Secretary
Lisa Bourke-Schulte
Lisa and her husband John have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of two daughters and two energetic grandsons. Between them they have decades of experience across a wide field of industries including agriculture, oil and gas production and the design field, in which Lisa has worked for over 36 years. She is the proud owner of her own independent floral design company, Dosie Dotes & Greens serving central Alberta and beyond. Throughout her career Lisa has seen the devastating effects mainstream politics and politicians have had on the people of this province. When the federal government of Canada and those all too happy to obey their orders recklessly locked down Alberta without dialog or debate, Lisa decided it was her time to take a stand. It was at this time she made the decision to get involved in the fight against tyranny.
Over the last 3 years, Lisa has listened to many strong people in Alberta asking, ‘what can we do’ and ‘how do we stop this’. Standing up to answer, she helped form small business coalitions to help navigate AHS mandates. She also helped facilitate events for the Alberta Prosperity Project to help educate Albertans on issues facing western Canada. She has most recently accepted a position on the board of The Independence Party of Alberta, as a valued colleague working towards a full referendum on sovereignty. She is a strong voice for the independent and prosperous Alberta that will ensure our children and grandchildren’s health, happiness and future.

Director At Large
Rahman Derrick
As a passionate humanitarian Rahman Derrick found the joy in community involvement from a young age. From being involved in team sports, winning the lead role in the school play to being on the school choir and later band he’s always been a sociable person. Being involved in the junior, high school, university and provincial elections you could say political service has been his passion as well. Attending university in Ontario, Rahman graduated with an Honours BBA and concurrently an Honours Diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in small business in 2011. He has a diverse career background, having worked in outdoor education, retail, sports and entertainment, hospitality, banking, commercial warehousing and is familiar with the inside of a workshop from his time apprenticing in a heavy-duty mechanics shop. All of these varied experiences have allowed Rahman to develop a sharp understanding of the issues and elements that society faces, and has solidified his resolve to "leave the world better than we found it".
As a member of the board of The Independence Party, Rahman advocates for all Albertans who believe they should have the power to manage their own lives without constant meddling from destructive globalist policies administered through their proxies in Ottawa or Edmonton. With a fun and engaging approach, Rahman hopes to entice Albertans old and young alike to embrace a more locally focused, sustainably built society and economy for the benefit of Albertans today and for generations to come.

Director at Large
Dawn Elzinga
Dawn hails from Peers, Alberta where she and her husband are owners of a local agribusiness. An experienced and fierce advocate for the safety and rights of children, she is a mother of seven and grandmother of one (so far). Dawn, her husband and her family most recently served on the frontline assisting with firefighting efforts during the Alberta wildfire crisis. Politically, Dawn and her family took an active and fierce role in pushing back in defense of the people from the moment government overreach crossed the line. She has played an active role in supporting her local community to organize against the rising tide of crime in her constituency.
She has also taken an uncompromising stand in defense of the next generation of Albertans. She has seen firsthand the destructive effects of Globalist policies and their Marxist influences and will push back hard against anything that would seek to strip us of the ability to define and live our lives as we see fit. In her own words, “We have skin in the game – this is our children and grandchildren’s future we’re talking about. We will continue to Stand Strong like our forebearers did when they settled this wild, rugged and beautiful land. We encourage all Albertans to dig deep and honor the spirit of integrity, traditional values, self-reliance, independence and inner strength that is who and what we are, and what once defined this great country.”

DIRECTOR AT LARGE
A little history. In the 1982 provincial election, the Western Canada Concept Party of Alberta (WCC) ran candidates in 78 of the 79 constituencies. The WCC was an independence party, so this election was an historical watershed for Alberta.
I was one of those 78 candidates.
I ran in Lethbridge East. In those days we were fighting against Pierre Trudeau, but nothing since then has diminished my enthusiasm for an independent Alberta. For more than 40 years I have promoted and tried to advance the cause for Alberta independence, first as a founding director for two independence parties, then as president of a third, and as a director of a fourth. My simple intention is to get Albertan's on the quickest and easiest path to independence.
We are stuck in a dysfunctional democracy that disproportionately favours certain regions of the country. Meanwhile, Ottawa continues living on our dime, and we are treated as second-class citizens in our own country.
It's the system that is the main underlying problem. The system always allows central Canada, via Ottawa, to control everything in their favour. That’s just the way it is, has been, and always will be. Until Ontario and Quebec want to allow a change, nothing will be done. But why would they? They simply have a source of free funds forever. Nothing will change, no matter how much negotiation we do, or what party or representatives we send to Ottawa. The problems we had fifty years ago are just as prevalent today as they were back then. The only thing we will get out of this is lip service.
Take it from me, who has been fighting for Alberta independence for more than 40 years. More and more Albertan's are beginning to see the light. Hopefully, one day we will be free from Ottawa.
I, for one, will always work for Alberta Independence.

Treasurer
Charlene Schramm
Charlene and her husband Jim live on acreage just east of Olds, Alberta and are the proud parents of three grown children, two daughters and one son. They are further blessed to be the grandparents of eight grandchildren (so far!). Born and raised on a farm in Central Alberta, Charlene comes from a family with a long history of passion for politics, justice and standing for the rights of the people. Her father was a strong proponent against the blatant and unbalanced power of the federal government, a cause Charlene champions to this day. While writing for weekly newspapers in the early 1980s she covered the movement of the Western Canadian Concept Party but was disappointed to see that movement sabotaged, as many also were. For the last 12 years she has worked extensively as a volunteer and on the founding board of The Olds & District Hospice Society.
Since the AGM in April of 2023, she has served as The Independence Party’s Director of Finance. Although growing up believing in the power of the vote, she soon came to understand as so many of us have that in the politics of today, results are often decided before polling stations even close. She is fiercely proud of Alberta and of the people of this province and will do whatever she can to ensure her children and grandchildren can say the same in the future. As Jim approaches retirement they are feeling called to work more closely with The Independence Party which represents Alberta’s best chance for a government built on the values of truth and justice: values they are uncompromising in championing.

Interim President
Ron Robertson
Ron was born and raised in Edmonton and currently resides in Leduc with his wife Brenda and their blue heeler, Tynder. After a rewarding career serving the community with the Edmonton Police Service, he then entered the private sector. His business endeavors have included owning and running a very successful driver examination service, home inspection business and working presently as a certified Dry Blood Microscopy analyst. Ron is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hiking and camping in particular. When time permits, he also has a passion for landscape and wildlife photography and is in addition a skilled marksman and sport shooter.
Ron believes that Alberta was brought into the confederation of Canada merely as a resource to be exploited by Laurentian elites; a relationship that is still the norm to this day. He accepts the tragic reality that there is no chance Albertans will ever achieve their potential or be treated with equality by remaining within Canada. Because of this, he firmly believes that the people of Alberta can only achieve their full potential if they choose to separate and form their own independent republic. It is his greatest hope that the end result of his lifetime of service to his community both in his career and on the board of the Independence Party will be the realization of that goal.

The Independence Party
"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."
Abraham Lincoln
Preserving our hard-earned wealth and the legacies we've built motivates us, but it’s far from the whole picture of what this party stands for. Our vision goes a little further and reaches a little higher than just that. We seek something greater not just for ourselves but for all Albertan's. We seek to build a country where the interests and priorities of Albertan's come first. Our task is to build a home and future in their service and the interests of our legacies and to protect the future we are building together.
The Independence Party is dedicated to the economic, political and cultural independence of the province of Alberta without condition or compromise. We with our friends, allies and partners stand proud and firm in service of this goal. If you feel as we do and wish to discover your independence, we invite you to join us.
The Independent Republic of Alberta:
our RIGHT, our DUTY, our FUTURE
Alberta Independence is the ONLY Option
Some would say Canada is broken. However, quite the opposite is true.
Some would say that Justin Trudeau is our problem, but this could not be further from the truth.
Canada is working exactly how it was intended.
The sad truth is that all power and resources are brought to central Canada for the selfish interests of the Laurentian elite. And, as long as they have the majority of votes in Parliament that will never change. As for Mr. Trudeau, it is the system that puts him and his kind in power, time after time. Prime ministers who don't favour central Canada over western Canada, are simply replaced.
We have seen Alberta trodden upon in all manner of ways by the federal government. Given this long-standing track record, there is no hope of ever fixing our association with Ottawa (i.e., Ontario and Quebec.)
It is the dominance of central Canada that explains why we are perpetually unable to stop Ottawa siphoning billions of dollars and resources at will from us, and that no provincial elected representative can do anything about it. This is the root cause of all of our provincial government problems, whether it’s healthcare funding, the justice system, old age pensions, education, policing, infrastructure... the list goes on.
We have researched and never found one piece of Parliamentary legislation that favoured Alberta to the detriment of Ontario and Quebec, but we have no problem finding the reverse. We're sure we can all cite our own central Canada misgivings toward Alberta.
Trudeau may not be able to balance budgets, but he can count seats in the House of Commons. And to be fair, Conservatives have played the same game, with the same end results. It doesn't matter which party is in power, the outcome will always be the same. Alberta will always be on the losing end.
Remember, we had a prime minister from Calgary that did nothing for Alberta. And, if history proves us right, there is a good chance we will get another Prime Minister from Alberta to repeat the same process over again. What more proof do we need to tell us there is no answer other than total independence?
A majority of economic experts agree that Alberta is quite viable as an independent country. It should be: If we can financially support much of the country, supporting one province should not be much of a challenge.
We, for one, will always work for Alberta Independence.
